PM Modi Urges Police To Harness AI, Technology To Tackle Cyber Threats
On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concerns about the potential threats posed by digital frauds, cybercrimes, and AI technology, urging police leadership to "convert the challenge into an opportunity by harnessing India's double AI power of Artificial Intelligence and 'Aspirational India'."
Speaking at the 59th All India Conference of Director Generals/Inspector Generals of Police in Bhubaneswar, PM Modi expanded on the concept of SMART policing and urged the police to be "strategic, meticulous, adaptable, reliable, and transparent." He also praised initiatives in urban policing and recommended that "each of the initiatives be collated and implemented entirely in 100 cities across the country."

The Prime Minister called for the use of technology to ease the workload of constables and suggested that police stations should be made the central point for resource allocation.
Discussions at the conference included emerging security challenges along the Bangladesh and Myanmar borders, trends in urban policing, and strategies for countering malicious narratives. The conference also reviewed the implementation of recently enacted criminal laws, policing initiatives, and best practices, as well as the security situation in neighbouring regions.
The conference, attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Prime Minister's Principal Secretary, the National Security Advisor, Ministers of State for Home, and the Union Home Secretary, was held in a hybrid format.
It saw the participation of DGsP/IGsP from all States/UTs and heads of the CAPF/CPOs in person, with over 750 officers joining virtually from across the States/UTs.
