PM Modi Tops 2023 'Global Leader Approval' List, Surpasses Meloni, Biden

Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to be a dominant global figure, boasting an impressive 76 percent approval rating, as per a Morning Consult survey. The 'Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker' by this US-based consultancy firm revealed that a significant majority of Indians, 76 percent, approve of PM Modi's leadership, while 18 percent express disapproval, and six percent abstained from expressing an opinion.

This marks the fourth time PM Modi has topped the list with such a substantial margin, solidifying his position as a highly respected leader on the world stage.

PM Modi's commanding approval rating significantly surpasses other world leaders, with Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador securing the second-highest rating at 66 percent, followed by Switzerland President Alain Berset with 58 percent. Notably, Prime Minister Modi has consistently held the top position in previous surveys.

In contrast, other major global leaders possess more moderate approval ratings. US President Joe Biden stands at 37 percent, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau at 31 percent, UK PM Rishi Sunak at 25 percent, and France President Emmanuel Macron at merely 24 percent. These ratings follow the Bharatiya Janata Party's significant victories in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh assembly elections, led by PM Modi.

This achievement is seen as a considerable boost for PM Modi and his party as they eye the 2024 general elections. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi recently participated in the Conference of Parties-28 (COP28) Climate Action Summit in the UAE.

It's noteworthy that PM Modi has consistently maintained high approval ratings, with last year's rating reaching 72 percent, surpassing notable figures such as US President Joe Biden, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and French President Emmanuel Macron. PM Modi's sustained popularity is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the political landscape as the nation gears up for the upcoming elections.
