PM Modi Spearheads Coalition Cabinet with Predominant BJP Influence

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading a coalition government for the first time. Despite this, the BJP's dominance remains strong. On Sunday, PM Modi appointed 71 ministers to his cabinet. Out of these, 61 are from BJP and 11 from alliance parties.

Modi s Coalition Cabinet BJP in Command

PM Modi has prioritised key BJP leaders from his previous government. Important ministries like Home, Defence, Foreign, and Finance remain with the BJP. This coalition government will be different from previous ones. Allies are respected but have no interference.

PM Modi understands the importance of allies for his government. However, BJP is also crucial for the allies. There is no special pressure from any ally in forming the government. Leaders like Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu are not pushing for special status for Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.

Both JDU and TDP need funds for their states' development. PM Modi will ensure they do not face any problems in this regard. The government will continue to be strong like before. Major allies are not interfering in the government's functioning for now.

There are six ministers in the Modi government with experience as Chief Ministers. This will make the PMO as effective as before. The pace of work in concerned ministries may increase further. The Prime Minister's Office will only need to monitor, making its work more organised.

This year, assembly elections will be held in Maharashtra, Haryana, and Jharkhand. PM Modi has focused on these states in the new government. In Haryana, BJP has included three ministers to strengthen its caste equation despite winning five seats.

In Jharkhand, the focus is on non-tribal voters. In Maharashtra, the party aims to continue its alliance. No Muslim face has been included in the Modi government so far. A Muslim leader may be added to the council of ministers in future.

The community's alleged support for the opposition India block might be a reason for this exclusion. It remains to be seen how BJP's politics will progress in this direction. The opposition claims that Modi's government works only for the rich.

Names like Adani and Ambani are often mentioned by them. However, Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani attended PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony. This shows that the government is not concerned about opposition attitudes.

The influence of Hindu organisations on this government remains strong. With Muslim votes allegedly going to the opposition, BJP aims to strengthen its strategy further.
