PM Modi Meerut Visit: Ghaziabad–Meerut Delhi–Dehradun Highway Closed, Check Alternate Route On Expressway

Meerut is set for extensive traffic restrictions and tight security arrangements on Sunday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the city to inaugurate the Namo Bharat rapid rail and the Meerut Metro, along with addressing a public gathering.

Authorities have issued a detailed advisory to manage traffic movement and ensure public safety during the high-profile programme.

Delhi-Dehradun Highway Closed For 12 Hours

Police have announced that the Delhi-Dehradun Highway between Ghaziabad and Meerut will remain completely shut from 6 am to 6 pm. Commuters will not be allowed to travel on this stretch throughout the day.

However, the Delhi-Meerut Expressway will remain operational and will serve as the primary route for long-distance travellers.

Vehicles travelling between Meerut and Ghaziabad will be diverted through Hapur. The Ganganahar route towards Muradnagar will also remain open to ease pressure on alternative roads. Traffic personnel will be stationed at key junctions to guide commuters.

Alternative Routes For Delhi And Meerut Travellers

Authorities have issued specific route plans:

Meerut to Delhi

• Vehicles will avoid Delhi Road and instead move via Modipuram, Sardhana bridge, Rohta bridge and Baghpat bridge before joining NH-58 and the expressway through Kashi Toll Plaza.
• Another option is via Bijli Bamba intersection to Hapur and then onto the Delhi-Moradabad Highway.

Delhi to Meerut

• Vehicles can travel from the expressway via Kashi Toll Plaza onto NH-58.
• Alternatively, commuters may use the Delhi-Moradabad Highway via Hapur and Bijli Bamba crossing to enter Meerut.
• Entry into Meerut city via Delhi Road from Paratapur Interchange will remain prohibited.

Officials confirmed that emergency services and ambulances will continue to operate without restrictions.

Security On High Alert, SPG Takes Charge

Security agencies have implemented multi-layer protection arrangements for the Prime Minister's visit. The Special Protection Group (SPG) is overseeing the overall security, while ATS, STF and intelligence units have been placed on alert.

Local police teams are monitoring inputs and the entire area surrounding the rally venue will remain under strict surveillance.

Preparations For Namo Bharat And Metro Inauguration

Senior police officials held coordination meetings with traffic and district authorities from Meerut, Ghaziabad and Hapur to ensure smooth arrangements. The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the Namo Bharat train service and the Meerut Metro and later address a public meeting in the city.

Authorities have advised residents to plan travel in advance and use the expressway or designated diversion routes to avoid inconvenience on the day of the event.
