PM Modi Accuses Congress of Dishonesty and Election Manipulation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the Congress, labelling it as India's most dishonest party led by a corrupt dynasty. Speaking at a rally in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, Modi also condemned the alleged assault on an Indian journalist by Congress workers in the US. "Does such treatment of an Indian journalist reflect well on India's dignity?" he questioned.

Modi: Congress Manipulates Polls

Modi accused the Congress of using dishonest methods to win elections and come to power. "Congress is India's most dishonest party. Congress's royal family is India's biggest corrupt dynasty. You have to remain vigilant against them," he stated. He warned the public about Congress's intentions, which he claimed were evident in states ruled by the party.

Allegations of False Promises

The Prime Minister cited Himachal Pradesh as an example of Congress's false promises. "Congress made false promises to the people in a bid to get votes in Himachal Pradesh. Now, they have destroyed the state. No development is taking place, employees are not getting salaries, and the youth are not getting jobs," he said.

Modi also referred to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks in Srinagar about jailing BJP leaders if the opposition INDIA bloc had won more seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections. "Their ideology and vision have become clear through the statements of their president... Do you want to come to power to send us to jail or to work for the welfare of the people? Is this your only agenda?" he asked.

Concerns Over Journalist's Treatment

Modi expressed concern over the mistreatment of an Indian journalist in America. Rohit Sharma, a television journalist based in Washington DC, reported being locked in a room and beaten while covering Rahul Gandhi's visit for India Today group. "Independent media is a pillar of a vibrant democracy. Does such treatment of a journalist reflect well on India's dignity?" Modi asked.

Sharma claimed that chaos erupted during his interview with Indian Overseas Congress chairman Sam Pitroda when he asked if Rahul Gandhi would address attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh during his meeting with US lawmakers. "One person jumped towards my microphone, another went directly for my phone and they just ended the interview," Sharma said.

Modi's Rally Ahead of Assembly Polls

This rally marked Modi's first election campaign in Jammu and Kashmir before the assembly polls starting on September 18. The first phase will cover 24 seats across Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, and Kulgam districts. The second phase will be on September 25 for 26 constituencies, followed by the final phase on October 1 for 40 seats.

Modi criticised Congress for its alleged agenda of hate and discrimination against Jammu. "Jammu has also been a victim of their hate. The Congress and the NC have always discriminated against Jammu. They made worst remarks against Maharaja Hari Singh and other kings," he said.

The Prime Minister accused Congress of sowing seeds of division while pretending to promote love. "They talk about the Constitution but sow seeds of division... they display boards of love while nurturing hatred," he remarked.

Modi reiterated that his government aims to remove corruption and provide facilities for poor people. "We run the government to remove corruption and provide the best facilities to the poor people. As they [Congress] don't have a positive vision, their only agenda is to send opposition leaders to jail," he said.

The Prime Minister concluded by emphasising that people chose his government for welfare purposes rather than jailing opposition leaders. "The people of the country have chosen us in 2014, 2019, and 2024 for the welfare of the people, not to send opposition leaders to jail," he stated.
