PM Modi Conferred With Second-Highest Civilian Honour By Greek President Sakellaropoulou
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the Grand Cross of the Order of Honour by Greek President Katerina N. Sakellaropoulou in Athens on Friday. The award is the highest civilian honour that Greece can bestow on a foreign national.
Reacting to it, PM Modi thanked the President of Greece Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the Government there and the people of Greece. "This shows the respect the people of Greece have towards India," the PM tweeted.

PM Modi was presented the award at a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Athens. He was accompanied by his wife, First Lady Savita Modi.
The Grand Cross of the Order of Honour is a multi-tiered order of chivalry that was established in 1926. It is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Greece or to humanity in general. PM Modi's decisive contribution to the strategic promotion of Greek-Indian friendship in areas of mutual interest has also been recognised, the MEA said.
