PM Modi Calls For Uprooting Casteism And Regionalism In His Dussehra 2023 Address
In a Dussehra address at Delhi's Ram Leela Maidan in Dwarka on Tuesday, 24th October, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a resounding call for the eradication of social ills such as casteism and regionalism. He also encouraged the public to take ten pledges, one of which involves uplifting the socio-economic status of at least one impoverished family.
PM Modi emphasized that Dussehra should symbolize more than the burning of Ravana's effigy. He urged people to stand against the divisive forces that attempt to fracture the unity of 'Maa Bharati' in the name of caste and regional distinctions.

PM Modi stated "Today, 'Ravana Dahan' should not be only about burning of an effigy but also about forces which try to divide 'Maa Bharati' in the name of casteism and regionalism," as quoted by India today.
The festival of Vijayadashami, he noted, should be a celebration of patriotism triumphing over the nation's various evils. He encouraged everyone to pledge to combat social injustices and discrimination, fostering renewed vigor and determination on the path of national development, with the goal of collectively creating a "Shreshtha Bharat" - a superior India.
"The festival of Vijayadashami should also be the festival of victory of patriotism over every evil of the nation. We should take a pledge to end evils and discrimination in society. We will move forward with new energy and new resolutions on the path of development. We will together make the 'Shreshtha Bharat," the Prime Minister noted.
Regarding the Ram temple, PM Modi celebrated the long-awaited construction on the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya as a manifestation of their patience, marking a historic moment. He noted, "Today, we are fortunate to see Lord Ram's temple being constructed on Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya after a long wait. It is a sign of victory of our patience,"
During his speech, the Prime Minister also lauded the achievements of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), particularly its successful lunar landing mission. He expressed confidence in India's ascent to become the world's third-largest economy.
PM Modi stated, "We have reached the Moon. We are on the verge of becoming the world's third-largest economy. Just a few weeks ago, we inaugurated the new Parliament building. Parliament has also passed the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam to empower women in our society."
