PM Modi Calls Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge To Inquire About His Health

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday, September 29, after Kharge experienced a health issue during a public rally in Jammu and Kashmir. While addressing a large crowd in Kathua, before the third phase of assembly elections, Kharge felt lightheaded and nearly collapsed. Security personnel and fellow Congress members supported him, allowing him to continue his speech after drinking water.

Kharge's son, Priyank Kharge, who is the Chittapur MLA, provided an update on his father's condition via X (formerly Twitter). He mentioned that the Congress President felt slightly unwell while speaking at a public meeting in Jasrota, Jammu & Kashmir. After being examined by his medical team, it was found that he had slightly low blood pressure but was otherwise fine.

Kharge's Determination

Expressing gratitude for the concern shown by many, Priyank added that his father's determination and the good wishes of people keep him strong. Later, Mallikarjun Kharge declared his resolve to remain active until Prime Minister Modi is removed from power. "We will fight to restore statehood. I am 83 years old; I am not going to die so early. I will stay alive till PM Modi is removed from power," he stated.

Kharge criticised the central government for delaying elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He argued that if they had intended to hold elections, they would have done so within a couple of years. He accused them of wanting to control the region through a remote-controlled government led by the Lieutenant Governor.

Criticism of Government Policies

The Congress chief also criticised PM Modi's tenure over the past decade. "PM Modi did not give anything to the youth of India in the last 10 years," he said. Kharge urged people to question BJP leaders about their contributions to prosperity when they encounter them.

Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks reflect ongoing political tensions as assembly elections approach in Jammu and Kashmir. His comments highlight concerns about governance and development under the current administration.
