The case concerns a 19-year-old commerce student who left home to visit a friend on March 29 and vanished. According to her father, the family reported her missing to the police on April 3, following days of fruitless efforts to find her. On April 4, a day later, she was discovered to be in worsening health. She shared the specifics of her experience once she was well enough to talk.

Over the course of seven days, the victim claimed that she had been repeatedly drugged, lured away, and gang-raped by several men. She claims that 23 people in all were involved in the crime. She was gang-raped after being drunk by numerous people, according to her father, who expressed his intense distress.

The large number of men involved indicates that the act was prearranged. My daughter, a 19-year-old commerce student, had aspirations of playing sports. None of the accused are people I know or recognize.

He also made a request for justice from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. "I want the punishment to be harsh enough to discourage others from committing such crimes, but I do not call for the death penalty."

Nine people had been brought before the court and placed in judicial custody, according to Alok Saurabh, an attorney for one of the accused. Eleven of the 23 individuals who have been named are still unidentified, he said. The police are still looking for the other suspects.
