Delhi Mayor Mahesh Kumar Khichi Unveils Plans for Pink Toilets in Major Markets for Women

Delhi Mayor Mahesh Kumar Khichi announced plans to build 'Pink toilets' for women in key markets across the city. This decision came after a meeting at the Civic Centre with 100 women entrepreneurs from Delhi, led by Priyanka Saxena, General Secretary of the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) Women's Council.

The meeting, organised by CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal, addressed various civic issues impacting women in business. The entrepreneurs highlighted several challenges, including inadequate parking facilities in markets like Lajpat Nagar and Karol Bagh. They noted that these issues hinder customer access to these areas.

Security Concerns and Loan Challenges

Security concerns were also raised during the meeting. The women pointed out incidents of chain and mobile phone snatching, which have become increasingly alarming. Additionally, they expressed difficulties in securing affordable loans for their businesses.

The lack of clean public toilets was another significant concern for the entrepreneurs. They mentioned receiving notices related to trade licenses and house taxes, adding to their challenges. These issues were discussed thoroughly during the gathering.

Future Plans for Market Development

In response to these concerns, Mayor Khichi assured that pink toilets would be installed in major markets once the Aam Aadmi Party government is re-elected. He also announced plans to create selfie points in historical markets like Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar, Khari Baoli, and Kashmiri Gate.

The proposed selfie points aim to celebrate Delhi's rich cultural heritage. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the appeal of these markets and attract more visitors. The development plans reflect a commitment to addressing both practical and cultural needs in the city.

The meeting underscored the importance of addressing women's specific needs in business environments. By focusing on infrastructure improvements and safety measures, the city aims to create a more supportive atmosphere for female entrepreneurs.
