New Delhi, Feb 4: It was after Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi intervened that the police showed some signs of action in the Nido Taniam murder case and arrested 3 persons in the connection. Three others, including two juveniles, have been identified in the case, but not yet been arrested.

Furthermore, Delhi Police spokesperson Rajat Bhagat said that the toxicology, forensic, and post-mortem reports are awaited. However, as per initial findings of the report, there were injury marks on the body and internal bleeding.

The investigation was fast-tracked at the later half of the day yesterday when Rahul Gandhi joined the NE students' candle light protests at the Jantar Mantar. Though a surprise visit, but it had a lot of impact both on the investigation and the psyche of the people. However, this reportedly came a day after Narendra Modi raised the murder case at a rally in Meerut.

Gandhi also urged Sushilkumar Shinde to support Taniam's family and ensure that the culprits be booked at the earliest.

What happened to Nido is totally unacceptable. We will ensure Nido gets justice. There is only one India. And that India belongs to all of us. We are going to ensure you get respect in this country. We will fight for you and get you justice," Gandhi said. Gandhi also met a delegation of NE students led by Ninong Ering, the Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs.

Meanwhile chief minister of New Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has ordered a magisterial probe in the case, apart from another probe into the actions taken by the law enforcing agencies. He is likely to join the protest today.
