(Pics) India needs a PM like Mamata: Anna Hazare
Kolkata, Feb 19:Anna Hazare, after attending a long meeting with the TMC leader and the chief minister of West Bengal-Mamata Banerjee, was all praises for the leader. Impressed by her simplicity and her lifestyle, he said that the country would progress fast if she was at the "helm of affairs".
"Today I believe there can be change in the country. People also want change. That time is coming," he said on Tuesday late at night after the dinner meeting at the residence of Trinamool General Secretary Mukul Roy.
Referring to her as "didi", Hazare said,"All her life, she has lived simply, eaten simple food, she has neither a house nor a car. So long we did not have any leader like her. Now we have found (one)." Being the only one to reply to Anna Hazare's letter, Banerjee is said to have accepted all the 17 pro-people policies raised by him.
While both Banerjee and Hazare are evading direct questions on an alliance, both their opinions are positive. Banerjee said,"He wanted to meet me when Mukul Roy called on him recently. I have never met him. This is the first time I am meeting him. I will be happy to meet him."
Roy and Trinamool Rajya Sabha member K.D. Singh met the 76 year old activist at the Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra on Saturday for preliminary discussions and set a face-to-face meet with Mamata Banerjee.
