Shivpal Yadav Confirms PDA's Strength and Unity Before Uttar Pradesh Bypolls

The by-election campaign in Uttar Pradesh is intensifying, particularly in Mainpuri district. Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Shivpal Yadav has asserted that the PDA, representing backward classes, Dalits, and minorities, will remain united. He hinted that those predicting its division will face consequences, indirectly targeting the ruling BJP.

PDA Will Remain United, Says Shivpal Yadav

Shivpal Yadav's Confidence in SP's Victory

While campaigning for Tej Pratap Yadav in Karhal, Shivpal Yadav expressed confidence in the SP's success across all nine by-election seats. He anticipated a significant victory margin for Tej Pratap Yadav and urged for a transparent electoral process. He emphasised the importance of fair elections and called for adherence to Election Commission guidelines.

The term PDA was introduced by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. Shivpal Yadav's remarks follow Lok Sabha MP Dimple Yadav's criticism of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's statements. She accused Adityanath of diverting attention from real issues with his calls for Hindu unity.

Yogi Adityanath's Remarks on Unity

On September 23, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reiterated his "batenge toh katenge" comment. He linked disunity to historical events like the destruction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He urged people to remain united to prevent such occurrences. This statement was previously made concerning violence in Bangladesh after political changes there.

Karhal constituency, near Akhilesh Yadav’s village Saifai, is part of Dimple Yadav’s Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat. The SP has held this seat since 1993, except briefly when it went to BJP’s Sobaran Singh Yadav before he joined the SP. The by-election here follows Akhilesh Yadav’s resignation after being elected as an MP from Kannauj.

SP's Concerns Over Election Fairness

Shivpal Yadav highlighted concerns about election fairness, citing numerous complaints regarding the by-elections. The SP has requested the transfer of three officials from Moradabad to ensure a fair election in Kundarki. The party aims for an election process free from fear and intimidation.

The SP announced candidates for all nine seats for the November 13 bypolls. The deadline for nominations was October 25, with vote counting scheduled for November 23. The party remains focused on ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process throughout these elections.
