Paswan to tour the country with the NDA govt’s message for Dalits

New Delhi, Aug 11: With the passage of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Bill from Parliament, the responsibility to take the message that the National Democratic Alliance government (NDA) is committed to the cause of Dalits will be on shoulders of Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Lok Janshakti Party president Ram Vilash Paswan.

It is informed that the Dalit leader from Bihar will be touring across the country for over a month with the message of the NDA government that he is part of and which is led by the Modi government has done a lot to the community. The attempt of the Modi government is to pacify the enraged Dalit community where there is some kind of disbelief that is generated by some recent developments.

In his effort, the Union minister will pose questions to the leaders from the opposition political parties mostly based on only those issues that have been done by the NDA government in the past over four years. In the Monsoon session, Parliament passed the bill to overturn a Supreme Court order concerning certain safeguards against arrest under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe law, with the Rajya Sabha unanimously adopting it. The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Bill, which was passed by the Rajya Sabha by a voice vote, had got the nod of the Lok Sabha on August 6.

Paswan is expected to ask questions during his visits from the Congress president and other leadership that what has it done to Dalits and Dalits Icons like Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Paswan will not only target Congress president during his tour to different parts of the country but Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati and Samajwadi Party too will be in the line of fire of Paswan. As per Paswan, despite her claim to be the leader of Dalits her entire focus was on herself. The community did not get benefited by her.

The Modi government is relying heavily on him for the BJP not having any Dalit leader of his stature. So Paswan has been put into services to ask these opposition leaders that why places associated with Baba Saheb were neglected? Why did the Congress always work to defeat Bala Saheb? Why the Congress did not confer Bharat Ratna on him? Why Scheduled Caste and Scheduled tribe commission was not given Constitutional status? The issue of reservation to SC/ST in promotions and the recent issue were also overlooked by others. There are many other issues like scheduled tribe status to Neo Budhdhists was denied.
