Parts Of Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha Speech Expunged, RSS Hits Back At Him
The controversy surrounding Rahul Gandhi's speech in the Lok Sabha on July 1 has ignited massive debate. The Raebareli MP slammed BJP for allegedly causing communal divisions. Speaker Om Birla later expunged parts of his speech, which criticised the government on issues such as minority rights, NEET exam, and Agnipath scheme.
Gandhi's remarks about Hindus led to strong objections from the treasury benches. Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Gandhi of "calling the entire Hindu community violent," which resulted in a major backlash. PM Modi and several cabinet ministers, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanded an apology from Gandhi, asserting that he had hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

During his address, Gandhi referred to various religious figures and teachings to highlight the theme of fearlessness. He quoted Prophet Muhammad and cited the teachings of Lord Shiva, Guru Nanak, and Jesus Christ to argue that all religions advocate for courage and non-violence. Gandhi accused the BJP of "launching systematic attacks" on the Constitution and the core concept of India.
The expunged parts of Gandhi's speech also included his comments on industrialists Adani and Ambani, as well as his criticism of the Agniveer Scheme. Despite multiple interruptions and demands for an apology, Gandhi stood firm, accusing the government of attacking him and stifling dissent.
The RSS responded to Gandhi's allegations, with spokesperson Sunil Ambekar condemning the link between Hindutva and violence.
He stated, "It is unfortunate that people holding important positions in Parliament are associating Hindutva with violence. Whether Vivekananda or Gandhi... Hindutva is a symbol of harmony and brotherhood...".
