The Centre is likely to introduce bills seeking reservation on one-third of the number of seats for the women representatives in the legislative assemblies of Puducherry and Jammu and Kashmir.

To reserve the seats for women participants, the Government will also table the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2023 to propose the women reservation on one-third of the seats of the Union Territories.
The winter session has been scheduled to be held from December 4 to December 22. In the course of 19 days, the Union Government is likely to have discussions over seven new bills, including the two women's quota bills. The government may also address the backlog of 33 pending bills in this winter session.

Joseph had ruled that the appointments for the election body will be done by the President on the advice of a special committee comprising the Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Chief Justice of India till a good law on the issue is being made by the Parliament.
