Panneerselvam fields strongman Madhusudhanan for R K Nagar bypoll

The bypoll battle for R K Nagar constituency just heated up with O Panneerselvam announcing Madhusudhanan as their candidate. The former Presidium chairman of the AIADMK is pitted against current deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran. The AIADMK strongman is a force to reckon with in the bypoll with the massive popularity he enjoys among the voters.

A definite Jayalalithaa loyalist, Madhusudhanan has been the presidium chairman since 2010, a post that is automatically assumed to be the second-in-command in the party. He has been an MLA from the constituency earlier and has the massive backing of his brother and another strongman P K Sekhar Babu who is currently the MLA from the Harbour constituency.

Earlier in the day, a delegation from the Sasikala Natarajan's camp visited the election commission in Delhi. Anticipating row over the party's name and symbol, the delegation requested the poll panel not to accept any 'unnecessary' petitions over the same.
