Pakistan's Minister Claims 'Concrete' Proof of Indian Military Strike In Next 24-36 Hours

Pakistan's Information Minister, Attaullah Tarar, on Wednesday claimed that India is planning a military strike against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours. In a post on X, Tarar said the country possesses "credible intelligence" indicating that India could carry out an attack under the "false pretext" of Pakistani involvement in the recent terror incident in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.

"Pakistan has credible intelligence that India intends to carry out military action in the next 24-36 hours on the basis of fabricated allegations linked to the Pahalgam incident," Tarar stated.

Referring to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which left 26 civilians dead, Tarar said Pakistan condemns terrorism in all forms and has itself been a victim. However, he accused India of unilaterally assuming the role of "judge, jury, and executioner."

He added that Pakistan had proposed an independent probe by a neutral panel of experts to establish the facts. "Unfortunately, rather than choosing the path of reason, India appears to have opted for confrontation, a move that could have grave consequences for the entire region," Tarar warned.

He asserted that Pakistan would defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity and respond appropriately to any aggression.

Rising Tensions Between Nuclear-Armed Neighbours

Tensions have escalated since India alleged Pakistani involvement in the Pahalgam attack. Islamabad has denied the charges and urged for an international investigation.

Diplomatic fallout is already underway. India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, while Pakistan has reportedly closed its airspace to Indian flights.

While the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has not commented on Pakistan's claims, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said earlier today that the armed forces were free to take necessary action to eliminate terrorist threats and ensure the safety of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan's Defence Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, told Reuters that an Indian military strike seemed imminent, adding that the country remained on high alert. He also stressed that Pakistan would consider the use of nuclear weapons only in the event of an existential threat.
