Pakistan’s New Proxies In Jammu And Kashmir Is The New Headache For Security Agencies

The new headache for the agencies in Jammu and Kashmir are the mushrooming of newer terror outfits. Although all these newly emerged groups are proxies of groups such as the Lashkar-e-Tayiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Hizbul Mujahideen they still continue to pose a challenge to the security agencies in the Union Territory.

On Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out raids at three locations in Srinagar and Budgam districts and also seized incriminating literature and digital devices.

During the course of the investigation, the agencies have learnt that newly formed groups such as the The Resistence Front, United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir, Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind, Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters, Kashmir Tigers and PAAF have been formed.

An Intelligence Bureau official tells OneIndia that these are proxies and have been formed to give Pakistan based terror groups a sense of denial, each time an attack takes place.

These groups have been formed to carry out attacks on the minorities in Jammu and Kashmir and also target the security forces.

These raids come in the backdrop of the Indian Army foiling several infiltration bids along the Line of Control. There are several launch pads which have been put in place along the Line of Control and Pakistan is looking to infiltrate its terrorists into India.

The official cited above also said that Pakistan would look to do more of this in a bid to divert attention from what is going in the country. Pakistan has been facing turmoil on several fronts which include, political instability, financial crisis and terror.

During the raids, the NIA has learnt that these groups had been planning to carry out attacks using sticky bombs and IEDs. They were also in the process of radicalising the local youth with an aim of disturbing peace and harmony.

The cadres of the newly formed groups were found to be involved in the collection and distribution of stick and magnetic bobs, funds, IEDs, narcotics, arms and ammunition.
