Pakistan formally invites Sushma Swaraj for key conference on Afghanistan
New Delhi, Nov 10: Pakistan has extended an invitation to Indian External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj for a key conference on Afghanistan to be held in December.
Representatives from Azerbaijan, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and the UAE are expected to attend the 'Heart of Asia' conference to be held on December 7-8.
"A formal invitation has been sent to India and 25 other countries for the Heart of Asia ministerial meeting on Afghanistan to be hosted by Pakistan," a senior Foreign Office official was quoted as saying by the paper.
According to reports, India is yet to take a final call on the invitation sent by Pakistan to attend the meet, reported The Economic Times.
India and Pakistan have been in conflicting relations since their independence in 1947 with only occasional episodes of friendliness since then.
Cancellation of NSA-level talks between India and Pakistan was called off by later following differences over agenda of the meeting.
The NSA-level talks between India and Pakistan was proposed by prime ministers of both the nations when they met in Ufa, Russia on the side-lines of SCO summit in July this year.
