Pahalgam Terrorist Sketches Released: Security Forces Share Visuals of Suspected Attackers
In a major development following the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, security forces on Wednesday, April 23, released sketches of the suspected attackers. The move comes as part of a large-scale manhunt launched to track down those responsible for the massacre that claimed the lives of 26 individuals, most of them tourists.
The terror attack happened at Baisaran meadow, a picturesque destination often dubbed 'mini Switzerland' for its scenic beauty, located near the hill town of Pahalgam. The sudden assault sent shockwaves across the country, prompting high-level responses. Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his Saudi Arabia visit and returned to Delhi, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kashmir on the same day to oversee the situation firsthand.

According to preliminary investigations, authorities suspect that the terrorists may have infiltrated from Kishtwar in Jammu and made their way to Baisaran through Kokernag in South Kashmir. Intelligence agencies believe the attack was meticulously planned and executed, targeting civilians in one of the Valley's most popular tourist spots.
The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy outfit of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group based in Pakistan, has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to reports from the Press Trust of India. The incident has also reignited concerns over cross-border terrorism, with some linking the strike to a provocative statement recently made by the Pakistan Army chief.
As the investigation progresses, security agencies have urged the public to come forward with any information that might aid in identifying the suspects whose sketches have now been widely circulated.
