Pahalgam Attack: Deportation Of 1,000 Pakistani Nationals Begins In Uttar Pradesh

The Indian government has intensified its steps against Pakistan, accusing it of financing terrorism, in the wake of the deadly terrorist assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The deportation process has started, and all visas issued to Pakistani nationals have been canceled as part of the government's response. Many of the impacted Pakistanis have begun to cross the Wagah border and return to their homeland.

Over 1,000 Pakistani Nationals Identified in Uttar Pradesh

Between 1,000 and 1,200 Pakistani nationals have been identified by the state's officials as residents of Uttar Pradesh. Although they are awaiting the formal deportation order from the central government, senior police officers have revealed that plans are already in place to begin their deportation.

According to a senior police official, "the process of identifying Pakistani nationals in the state has already started." "Once we receive the final instructions from the Centre, we will take action accordingly to repatriate them."

Amit Shah Directs States to Act Swiftly

The chief ministers of every state have received personal messages from Union Home Minister Amit Shah directing them to locate Pakistani nationals within their borders and expedite their expulsion. Shah underlined the seriousness of the situation and the need for Pakistani nationals who are presently in India to depart the nation as soon as possible.

Timeline for Visa Revocation Announced

The revocation of all valid visas for Pakistani nationals will begin on April 27, 2025, according to a timeframe published by the Ministry of External Affairs. Medical visas, however, will continue to be accepted until April 29, 2025. Pakistani nationals in India are required to leave before their visas expire.

These steps come after 26 tourists were killed in a terror assault in Pahalgam's Baisaran meadow on April 22. The Indian government is committed to taking strong action to combat cross-border threats and has declared the incident to be Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
