In a social media post, the minister said that Rani Padmini had performed 'Jauhar' with 16,000 women. Deceit in any case with the history of immortal valour of such women cannot be accepted, she wrote. The film, slated to be released on December 1, has faced a spate of protests.

Bengaluru chapter of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena on Wednesday took to put a protest rally against the upcoming Bollywood movie " 'Padmavati.' The Karni Sena held a 'Swabhimaan Padyaatra', condemning the attempt to distort history in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie.

The protestors believe that the movie is an attempt to tarnish the rich heritage and culture of the erstwhile Rajputana. Meanwhile, BJP MLA & head of Film Studio Setting & Allied Majdoor Union, Ram Kadam has threatened that if If Bhansali doesn't agree, our union won't let him shoot any film.
