In light of the upcoming wedding season, the Delhi government's excise department has urged individuals to obtain temporary P-10 licenses to ensure responsible and proper consumption of liquor during these joyous occasions. The department aims to curb public drinking and encourage individuals to serve liquor in a regulated manner by acquiring the necessary permits.
P-10 Licenses for Wedding Celebrations
The sale of liquor significantly increases during November and December, coinciding with the peak wedding season in Delhi. To cater to this demand, P-10 licenses are issued for serving liquor at marriage parties. These licenses are crucial for ensuring responsible and controlled liquor consumption during these events.
P-10 License Issuance and Fees
Despite the surge in festival and wedding functions, official data reveals that only 1,716 P-10 licenses were issued in October and November of this year. These licenses are issued for serving liquor at parties and functions, with varying fees based on the venue. For parties held at banquet halls, motels, and farmhouses, the fee is Rs 15,000, while for any other location, it is Rs 5,000. Additionally, the excise department issues P-13 licenses for private parties and functions at hotels and restaurants, with a fee of Rs 10,000.
Responsible Consumption During Celebrations
The International Spirits and Wines Association of India (ISWAI) has emphasized the importance of responsible alcohol consumption during celebrations like weddings. The association stresses that successful wedding celebrations should prioritize cherished memories without compromising anyone's well-being.
The Delhi excise department's initiative to promote responsible liquor consumption during the wedding season is a commendable step towards ensuring public safety and well-being.
