OPS camp leaders booked for parading replica of Jayalalithaa's coffin

The Chennai police on Monday filed FIRs against two leaders of the AIADMK's O Panneerselvam camp. M Pandiarajan and Azhagu Tamil Selvi were booked for parading replica of late Jayalalithaa's coffin. Both leaders were seen using the mock coffin to campaign for the R K Nagar bypoll.

The mock coffin used by the AIADMK Puratchi Talaivi faction also displayed the tricolour. With complaints of the leaders insulting the national flag, the police registered a FIR. Azhagu Tamil Selvi is said to have been the brain behind the campaign.

With the outrage that the mock coffin campaign attracted, the Panneerselvam camp was quick to withdraw the same but the damage was already done. The actions were deemed an insult to the memory of late Jayalalithaa with many also highlighting that the party had insulted the national flag.
