“Opposition Will Be Punished”: PM Modi Warns After Women’s Quota Bill Defeat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation after the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill on women's reservation failed to pass in the Lok Sabha.

In a strong speech, he criticised opposition parties for voting against the bill and said they would face consequences from the people.

PM Modi Attacks Opposition Over Women's Quota

Speaking about the developments in Parliament, PM Modi accused parties like Congress, DMK, TMC, and Samajwadi Party of blocking women's reservation for political reasons.

He said:
"Opposition ne grror hatya kardi hai, yeh desh ke samvidhan ki aatma par prahar hai (The opposition has committed a grave injustice; it is an attack on the soul of the Constitution).

Congress mahila aarakshan ke vishay se hi nafrat karti hai (Congress has always opposed women's reservation). It has repeatedly tried to stop women's reservation through conspiracies."

"Congress Missed a Historic Opportunity"

The Prime Minister said he had hoped Congress would correct its past mistakes but failed to do so.

"Mujhe aasha thi ki Congress apni dashkon purani galti sudhar sakti hai, lekin unhone apna mauka kho diya (I hoped Congress would correct its decades-old mistake, but it lost the opportunity). Congress ne apna mukhota utaar diya hai (Congress has been exposed)."

He added that opposition parties have been using technical reasons for years to deny women their rights.

Strong Words: "Foeticide of Women's Rights"

PM Modi used strong language to criticise the opposition, saying:
"Congress, DMK, TMC aur Samajwadi Party ne mahilaon ke adhikaron ka foeticide kiya hai (These parties have committed foeticide of women's rights)."

He alleged that these parties have consistently blocked women's progress and do not want them to move forward.

Warning to Opposition: "They Will Be Punished"

The Prime Minister warned that voters, especially women, are watching closely.
"Main saaf kehna chahta hoon-jo logon ne mahila aarakshan ka virodh kiya hai, unhe iska dand milega (I want to say clearly that those who opposed women's reservation will be punished). Aaj ki mahila sab dekh rahi hai, samajh rahi hai (Today's women are watching and understanding everything)."

He said the opposition has made a serious mistake and will face the consequences in upcoming elections.

Attack on Congress' Role in Politics

PM Modi also criticised Congress, saying it has weakened over time and is now dependent on regional parties.

"Congress ne apna wajood kho diya hai (Congress has lost its identity). Jaise ek parasite hota hai, waise hi Congress regional parties par jeeti hai (Like a parasite, Congress survives on regional parties). Lekin woh unhe bhi majboot nahi hone dena chahti (It does not even want regional parties to grow stronger)."

He accused Congress of pushing its allies into opposing the bill for political reasons.

"Opposition Against Women's Progress"

The Prime Minister further said that parties driven by dynastic politics do not want women to rise.

"Yeh pariwarvaadi log kabhi mahilaon ko aage badhta nahi dekhna chahte (These dynastic parties never want women to progress)."
