Opinion Poll: How BJP Will Perform In UP, Assam In Lok Sabha Elections 2024? Here Are Predictions

In the last two Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has come out with flying colours in Lok Sabha which eventually helped the saffron party to form a stable government in the centre.

Can the BJP repeat its good performance in India's biggest state in 2024? The answer is yes, as per the latest opinion poll. Not just in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP will do well in Assam.

Survey: How BJP Will Perform In UP?

According to The Federal-Puthiyathalaimurai-Apt 2024 Pre-Poll Survey, the BJP will bag 78 seats out of 80 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. If this comes out to be true, then this will be its best-ever performance in Uttar Pradesh.

In 2014, the BJP had bagged 71 from just 10 in 2009 and it came down to 62 in 2019. However, the saffron party is set to increase its tally by 16 seats in 2024.

In terms of vote share, projections suggest that the BJP is poised to increase its share from 49.98 per cent in 2019 to 54.33 per cent. The Samajwadi Party is anticipated to secure 15.01 per cent of the votes, while the Congress is expected to garner 14.51 per cent.

However, according to The Federal survey, the most significant setback is projected for Mayawati's Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP), which is anticipated to experience a substantial decline. The BSP is predicted to receive no seats, marking a drastic drop of 10 seats, coupled with a 15 per cent decrease in vote share, plummeting from 19.43 per cent to 4.30 per cent.

BJP's Performance In Assam

Going by the survey report, the BJP will continue to remain a dominant position in the North East. The BJP is poised to secure victory in 10 out of 14 seats, leaving the Congress with just 4 seats. This marks a slight increase from the BJP's 2019 performance of nine seats, while the Congress held three seats.

It has to be noted that the remaining seats were divided between AIUDF and Independent candidates.

As far as the vote share is concerned, the survey indicates a 4 per cent rise in vote share for the BJP and Congress alike. However, in line with many parties within the NDA coalition, the AGP's vote share is anticipated to plummet significantly, dropping to a mere 1.52 per cent from 8.31 per cent in 2019.
