One more Kerala youth suspected to have joined ISIS

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 16: A youth from Kozhikode in Kerala is suspected to have joined the ISIS. This comes in the wake of reports that a former journalist from Kerala had joined the outfit a few months back.

Intelligence Bureau officials say that they are ascertaining whether this youth from Kozhikode too has joined the outfit. The person in question has been identified as Riyab and the police have registered a case. Investigations are on.

We have informed the Kerala police about the same who are on their ascertaining whether the youth in question has indeed joined the outfit. Preliminary inquiries conducted suggest that the youth in question may be in Syria, officials said.

An officer with the Intelligence Bureau informed OneIndia that there is a lurking suspicion that the youth in question may be with the ISIS. He has gone off the radar since the past several months and intercepts suggest that he may be in Syria.

Second case of Kerala youth joining ISIS

Recently a former journalist from Kerala was also reported to have joined the ISIS. The journalist who was working with a daily in Palakkad could be in Syria with the ISIS, a report by the Central Intelligence Bureau communicated to the Kerala state police stated.

In this case it was reported that he had gone to the Gulf around 8 months back and took up a job. Once in the Gulf he indicated to his family that he wanted to join the outfit. However his family resented his decision.

This person was on the radar for sometime but suddenly vanished. After much interception and tracking, the Intelligence agencies found that he had left for Syria and suspected to be working with the ISIS.
