Odisha To Launch CM-KISAN Yojna: Rs 1,935 Crore Fund To Boost Farmers' Income
Odisha's Deputy Chief Minister, K V Singh Deo, informed the Assembly on Wednesday about the upcoming inclusion process for new farmers under the CM-KISAN scheme.
This new initiative, introduced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in his inaugural budget speech, replaces the previous KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) scheme.

For the fiscal year 2024-25, the Odisha government has allocated a substantial Rs 1,935 crore to support the CM-KISAN scheme. This program aims to empower small and marginal farmers, as well as landless agricultural households, across the state.
Under the CM-KISAN scheme, registered farmers will receive Rs 4,000 annually, distributed in two instalments. Additionally, landless agricultural families will be eligible for Rs 12,500, provided in three instalments. The aim is to enhance their livelihoods and income support.
Farmers interested in benefiting from the scheme can apply via the CM-KISAN portal. The application process for new beneficiaries will commence soon, as stated by Singh Deo, who oversees the Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment department.
This initiative marks a significant step towards bolstering the agricultural sector in Odisha, aligning with the state's commitment to improving farmer welfare and ensuring sustained agricultural growth.
What Is The KALIA Scheme (Old)?
The Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) Scheme is designed to boost agricultural prosperity and alleviate poverty in Odisha. By providing a comprehensive support system, KALIA aims to empower farmers with financial options that promote growth and development in agriculture. The scheme focuses on improving access to financial services, enhancing agricultural productivity, and increasing income for small and marginal landholders.
With an allocation exceeding ₹10,000 crores, KALIA targets debt relief for farmers and directly addresses poverty by offering financial assistance to vulnerable agricultural households, landless labourers, and marginal cultivators. Introduced by the Odisha government, the scheme benefits 92% of the state's cultivators and nearly all landless farmers, delivering support through Direct Benefit Transfer.
