Odisha Government Ensures Safety for Army Officer and Fiancee Amid Custodial Assault Investigation
The Odisha government has assigned security to an army officer and his fiancée, who were reportedly victims of a custodial sexual assault at Bharatpur police station in the state capital. Personal security officers (PSOs) have been appointed for their protection, as confirmed by a senior officer from the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionrate.

The PSOs will accompany the couple during their travels within the city. Both individuals have accepted this security measure provided by the government. This decision followed a meeting between the army officer, his fiancée, her father, some ex-army personnel, and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the state secretariat.
Security Measures and Government Response
During the meeting with Majhi, the woman expressed concerns about potential threats related to the case. She later mentioned feeling relieved after the discussion and hoped for justice through the judicial inquiry announced by the state government. The alleged incident occurred on September 15 when the couple visited Bharatpur police station to report a road rage incident.
The state government has responded by suspending five police personnel involved and initiating a judicial inquiry into the matter. The army officer and his fiancée were allegedly harassed by local youths during their visit to lodge a complaint about road rage.
The judicial inquiry aims to thoroughly investigate the allegations and ensure accountability. The government's actions reflect its commitment to addressing such serious accusations and providing necessary protection to those involved.
