Odisha BJP Leader Jagannath Pradhan Arrested After Surrendering In BMC Assault Case
BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan was detained after arriving at the Bhubaneswar DCP office to assist with an investigation. The case involves an assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation's Additional Commissioner, Ratnakar Sahoo. Following his arrest, Pradhan underwent a medical examination at Capital Hospital before being presented in court.
Before entering the DCP office, Pradhan stated, "I have publicly condemned the attack on the Additional Commissioner of BMC on 30.06.2025. Such a despicable incident is unacceptable and should not happen again. Even though I am not involved in this incident, a planned attempt was made from various angles to defame me, my party and the government. OAS Association has also fallen victim to this plan and is protesting demanding my arrest."

Investigation Details
The Bhubaneswar DCP confirmed that Pradhan surrendered voluntarily. He was informed about the FIR, allegations, and statements from both co-accused and victim before his arrest. This development marks the sixth arrest in this case.
Previously, Kharavela Nagar Police had detained five individuals: Sanjeev Mishra, Sachikant Swain, Jeevan Rout, Rashmi Mahapatra, and Debashis Pradhan. These arrests are part of ongoing efforts to resolve the case surrounding the assault incident.
Political Repercussions
Pradhan expressed concerns about the political implications of his arrest. He mentioned that protests by the OAS Association could disrupt services in flood-affected areas and affect events like Bahuda Yatra and Sunabesha of Mahaprabhu.
He added that if his detention resolves these issues, he is willing to cooperate for the honour of BJP under Manmohan Samal's leadership and Odisha Government under Mohan Charan Majhi's leadership.
The situation has drawn attention due to its potential impact on local governance and public services. The BJP leader's involvement has sparked debates about political motivations behind such incidents.
The unfolding events highlight tensions between political entities and administrative bodies in Odisha. As investigations continue, more details are expected to emerge regarding the circumstances leading up to this high-profile case.
