Odisha Assembly Election Results 2024: CM Naveen Patnaik En Route To Raj Bhavan To Resign
Odisha Legislative Assembly Election Results 2024 LIVE Updates: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has comfortably crossed the halfway mark and is leading in 78 seats, while Biju Janta Dal (BJD) has been reduced to only 51 assembly seats.
In a shocker to BJD, even the longest-serving Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik is trailing from Kantabanji's seat. His opponent Laxman Bag from the BJP is leading with 84,206 votes.

Subsequently, CM Patnaik is on the way to Raj Bhavan where Odisha's Governor is expected to receive his resignation letter.
The Odisha Assembly election was conducted concurrently with the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The term of the present assembly, which was elected in 2019, concluded on June 2.
The 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly voting was held in four phases on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1. The crucial task of counting the votes is to be undertaken on June 4 and the result will be announced on the same day.
Odisha has a total of 147 Assembly constituencies. In the first phase, 28 constituencies went to the polls on May 13. The second and third witnessed voting in 35 and 42 constituencies respectively. The fourth and final phase held elections in 42 seats on June 1.
The main political parties in the contest are BJD, which contests 147 seats, BJP on 147 seats, INC on 145 seats, and Communist Party of India (Marxist) on seven seats.
