Good news! Now, you can download movies while travelling in trains

New Delhi, Feb 19: There is good news for smartphone users, as they could soon download movies, games and do a lot more while travelling in the trains.

The north western railways (NWR) has decided to provide free access to a restricted Wi-Fi hotspot in selected superfast and double-decker trains. The users will also be able to get updates and informations related to the trains and Indian Railways.

Soon, download movies in trains!

As per a TOI report, NWR has started the facility by installing a restricted router in coaches of some of the selected trains to facilitate passengers in using the facility. On a trial basis, the facility has already been started in Bikaner-Sarai Rohilla train and the officials are awaiting response to extend the facility to other trains as well.

"We have installed routers to give restricted Wi-Fi access to the passengers travelling in Bikaner-Delhi Sarai Rohilla train. Through this they can freely download an App called 'Press Play'. The App will enable them to download games, music and movies of their choice for free," chief public relations officer, NWR, was quoted as saying.

After downloading the application, one would only be able to use it during the train journey. Whereas the data downloaded while in the train, can be accessed by passengers after their journey as well.

"If a passenger has downloaded a movie by using the App, he can save the movie in the hard disk and see it even after his train journey gets over. However, the App would work only when the passenger is inside the train having a restricted Wi-Fi router," said a senior officer.

The department is planning to start the trial of this facility in 9 different trains across various divisions of NWR.
