Now, Purported Video Of TN CM M K Stalin Mocking Hindu Marriages Goes Viral

Even as the controversy around Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks on 'Sanatana Dharma' refusing to die down, a video of his father and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin purportedly mocking the Hindu marriages has gone viral.

In the old clip, M K Stalin, then the DMK President, is seen criticising Hindu marriages and is seen mocking several aspects of wedding rituals.

He details the scene of the bride and groom seated on the ground, presided over by the officiating priest or Iyer conducting the marriage ceremony. With a touch of humour, he recounts the series of events, from the sacred fire's smoke-inducing tears to the priest's chanting of mantras that he finds both puzzling and unpalatable.

"The pundit will utter some mantras. He will call the Gods & Goddess. He will call the 38 crore gods. He will call all the avatars. The bride and groom do not understand the meaning, in case if you ask the Pundit himself, he will say he doesn't know the meaning," he is heard saying in the abrupt video.

This clip has garnered criticism from netizens.

On the other hand, Udhayanidhi Stalin triggered a controversy after he alleged that 'Sanatana Dharma' is against equality and social justice.

Likening Sanatana Dharma to coronavirus, malaria, fever caused by the dengue virus and mosquitoes, he said such things should not be opposed but destroyed.

"A few things cannot be opposed, that should be abolished only. We can't oppose dengue, mosquitoes, malaria, or corona. We have to eradicate this, that's how we have to eradicate Sanatana. Rather opposing Sanatana it should be eradicated," Udhayanidhi was quoted as saying at an event organised by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Artists Association on Saturday.

"The name Sanatana is from Sanskrit. It is against Social Justice and equality," he added.
