“Nothing Will Happen to Me”: Video of BJP Councillor’s Husband Threatening Rape Survivor Triggers Outrage

A woman in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district has accused the husband of a BJP councillor of raping her at knifepoint, secretly recording the assault, and then using the video to repeatedly threaten and coerce her.

The case has drawn widespread attention after a purported video surfaced online in which the accused is allegedly heard boasting about his influence and dismissing the possibility of any action against him.

Viral Video Sparks Outrage

The accused has been identified as Ashok Singh, the husband of a BJP councillor in the Rampur Baghelan Nagar Parishad. A video circulating on social media allegedly shows Singh threatening the survivor and abusing a police officer.

In the clip, he is heard saying, "What will happen to me? Nothing will happen. Complain wherever you want, nothing will happen to me," while the woman's voice can be heard in the background, crying and speaking about filing a complaint.

Survivor Details Assault and Threats

According to the survivor, the alleged crime occurred around six months ago. She submitted a written complaint to Satna Superintendent of Police Hansraj Singh on Monday, stating that she had remained silent out of fear for her life and the safety of her family.

She alleged that Singh entered her house, raped her at knifepoint, recorded the act on his mobile phone, and threatened to kill her and her family if she disclosed the incident. The investigation was subsequently transferred to Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Trivedi.

Repeated Harassment and Renewed Assault

The woman further claimed that Singh approached her again on December 20, molested her, and renewed his threats. She alleged that he demanded continued compliance, warning that the recorded video would be made public if she refused.

The survivor also stated that Singh frequently comes to her shop, verbally abuses her, and repeats his threats, creating an ongoing atmosphere of fear and intimidation.

Allegations of Inaction and Police Response

Raising serious concerns, the woman alleged that she approached the police five days before submitting her formal complaint but saw no concrete action. She has said that if any harm comes to her or her family, the police would be responsible.

Police officials have stated that they are verifying the authenticity of the viral video and examining all available evidence. As of now, no official confirmation of an arrest has been made.

The survivor also claimed that Singh has a criminal background and was previously externed from the district, which she believes emboldened him to act with impunity.
