Not India, Pakistan Devised Plan To Kill Hardeep Singh Nijjar In Canada [Report]

While Canada has pointed fingers at India over the killing of Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a report has now claimed that it is Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) that hatched the plan to eliminate him.

According to a report in India Today, the ISI hatched the plan to strain India and Canada's relationship by killing Nijjar.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar

Hardeep Singh Nijjar was the chief of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) and one of India's most-wanted terrorists who carried a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head. He was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen outside a gurdwara in Surrey in the western Canadian province of British Columbia in June.

The ISI killed Nijjar through hired criminal, the report said citing sources. Also, the Khalistani leader was pressurised to support gangsters in the last two years by the ISI.

With his death, the ISI is now looking for Nijjar's replacement.

On the other hand, India and Canada's relationship took a blow after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made an explosive statement recently accusing an Indian government agency of killing Hardeep Singh Nijjar. He also expelled an Indian diplomat identified as Pavan Kumar Rai, the head of India's foreign intelligence agency in Canada, the Toronto Star newspaper reported.

Since then, both the countries have taken several actions which have only intensified the tensions between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the latest report in the Washington Post has claimed that at least six assailants were involved in the incident and over 50 bullets were fired at Nijjar.

The report also claims that the authorities arrived late to the crime scene despite the cops patrolling the neighborhood regularly. Precisely, they came between 12 and 20 minutes after the gunshots were first heard.
