Northern Railway Intensifies Night Inspection Campaign for Safe Rail Operations

Northern Railway carried out 618 night inspections in December across multiple divisions to enhance rail safety. Inspections focused on signalling, track infrastructure, yards, and staff adherence to safety rules, with emphasis on fog readiness and equipment availability. Senior officers advised vigilance, punctuality, and strict compliance with safety procedures.

In order to improve safety and operations, senior officers of NorthernRailway conducted night inspections of major stations, tracks, yards, andoperational installations across various divisions of Northern Railway.These night inspections are surprise inspections, carried out generallybetween 12 am to 4 am. The purpose of these night inspections is to ensuresafe rail operation.During a inspection, officers interact with railwayemployees and instruct them to be alert and vigilant during duty.

A total of 618 night inspections were conducted by senior railway officialsacross various divisions of Northern Railway in the month of December. Ofthese night inspections, 48 were conducted by officers at Headquarters, 93in Delhi Division, 131 in Lucknow Division, 190 in Firozpur Division, 23 inJammu Division, and 131 in Moradabad Division.

These night inspections were conducted as part of Northern Railway'songoing safety campaign to ensure the safety of rail operations. Theseinspections covered critical aspects such as rail operations, signalingsystems, track infrastructure, level crossings, yards, and staff adherenceto established safety rules and procedures. Particular attention was paidto adherence to operational manuals, fog preparedness, and the availabilityof safety equipment.

During the inspections, senior officers reviewed handover and takeoverprocedures, the condition of points and crossings, the functioning ofsignaling and interlocking systems, record keeping, and adherence to safetyinstructions. The officials made several important suggestions to improverail operations.

During the inspections, Northern Railway officers also interacted withstaff on duty to ensure safe rail operations and instructed them to bevigilant in their duties, maintain punctuality, and strictly adhere tosafety regulations.
