Licence of Noida Wine Shop Suspended After Salesman Killed Over Illegal Sale
In a significant move by the Excise Department in Noida, a wine shop's licence was suspended on Monday due to allegations of illegal liquor sales post-midnight. This decision came in the wake of a tragic incident where a salesman from the shop was fatally shot by unidentified individuals. District Excise Officer Subodh Kumar Shrivastava confirmed that the shop operators were also served with a show cause notice, demanding an explanation for the breach of their licence agreement.

The local police had earlier submitted a report to the district administration, highlighting the unauthorized sale of alcohol at the establishment located in New Haibatpur village, Greater Noida, beyond the permitted hours. The fatal shooting occurred around 2 am on Sunday, following a confrontation between the salesman, Hari Om, and three assailants over the refusal to sell liquor.
An FIR has been registered at the Bisrakh police station as investigations into the murder and the illicit activities continue. Insights from locals revealed that despite official closing hours at 10 pm, the shop engaged in clandestine sales late into the night, directly contravening their licensing terms.
Shrivastava detailed that upon receiving a comprehensive report from the police, immediate action was taken against the establishment. The issuance of a show cause notice seeks to understand the shop's perspective on the allegations and the unfortunate event leading to their licence suspension pending further review.
The response from the shop will dictate subsequent measures, guided by directives from the District Magistrate. As authorities work towards resolving this case, the suspects implicated in Hari Om's murder remain unidentified and unapprehended.
