Noida Vegetable Vendor Forced To Strip Naked For Not Repaying Rs 3,100 Loan, Video Goes Viral
Two people, including a commission agent known as an "aadhti," have been arrested in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly assaulting a vegetable vendor and forcing him to strip naked in the market in public because he did not repay a loan of Rs 3,100. The incident came to light after a video of the 35-year-old garlic vendor being forced to undress and paraded in the market went viral on social media.
According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida), Rajiv Dixit, the vendor, who had borrowed Rs 5,600 about a month ago for his business, said in his complaint that he operates a garlic cart and sells vegetables at the fruit and vegetable market in Sector 88.

On the day of the incident, the vendor visited the commission agent to repay Rs 2,500 of the Rs 5,600 loan and requested that he would settle the remaining amount at a later date. The vendor, hailing from Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh, explained in his complaint that the situation took a drastic turn when the commission agent summoned his accountant and two laborers to the shop. They forcibly detained him inside the shop, stripped him of his clothes, and subjected him to physical assault with sticks while hurling abusive language at him.
A video of the incident circulated on social media, depicting the vendor being coerced to undress amidst a barrage of profanities.
Subsequently, the naked victim was expelled from the shop into an open area without any clothing.
Additional DCP Dixit confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) was promptly registered on the same day, encompassing relevant legal provisions.
"The main accused, Sundar Singh, and his accomplice Bhagandas Singh, have been apprehended. Those who are evading arrest will be apprehended soon, and the most stringent legal measures will be taken against them," Dixit assured.
The FIR has been filed at the local Phase 2 police station, encompassing sections 323, 342, 357, 504, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with Section 66E of the Information Technology Act.
