Noida Police Granted 5-Day Custody of Gangster Ravi Kana Following Deportation
The Greater Noida police have successfully obtained a five-day remand for gangster Ravi Nagar, also known as Ravi Kana, following his arrest in Delhi after being deported from Thailand last week. This development came after a local court allowed the police remand, having previously placed Nagar and his girlfriend Kajal Jha under 14-day judicial custody this past Saturday, as confirmed by a senior officer.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Greater Noida, Saad Miya Khan, highlighted the significance of this remand, which will enable the authorities to delve deeper into Nagar's criminal activities. Nagar, 42, has been a prominent figure in the scrap trade, allegedly leveraging his criminal influence to secure contracts and partake in the theft of materials from industrial sites.
The legal proceedings on Tuesday saw Nagar participating via an online hearing, where his legal representatives contested the police's request for remand. However, the court was swayed by the police's arguments, ultimately granting them the five-day interrogation period. This decision marks a critical step in unraveling the extent of Nagar's criminal network and his involvement in various illicit activities.
Nagar's criminal dossier includes charges under the stringent Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act, with an FIR lodged against him at the Beta 2 police station in Greater Noida on January 2 of this year. Additionally, he faces accusations in a gang rape case filed at the Noida Sector 39 police station on December 28, 2023.
Currently held at Luksar jail in Greater Noida, Nagar is set to be transferred into police custody on Wednesday afternoon. The police aim to use this period to extract vital information about Nagar's connections and his alleged extortion schemes. In connection with the case filed under the Gangsters Act, the police have already apprehended approximately a dozen members of Nagar's gang and have seized assets believed to be acquired through criminal means. These assets include factories, offices, and vehicles, collectively valued at around Rs 250 crore.
This case underscores the relentless efforts of the Greater Noida police in combating organized crime and dismantling networks that threaten the safety and security of the community. The seizure of assets also highlights the financial impact of Nagar's alleged criminal enterprises, shedding light on the broader implications of such activities on society and the economy.
