The Incident
The victim, 29-year-old Dheeraj Kumar, was allegedly beaten to death by the suspect and his accomplices on Friday. Kumar worked as a guard at a group housing society where his brother also works. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Police Investigation
The police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified accused under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code and launched an investigation. During the course of the probe, one of the suspects, Yogendra alias Major, a resident of Roja Yakubpur village, was identified.
Arrest and Gunfight
On Saturday night, the police apprehended Yogendra after a gunfight. The suspect opened fire on the police team, prompting them to retaliate. Yogendra was shot in the leg and subsequently arrested.
Evidence and Motive
The police seized an illegal firearm and ammunition from Yogendra's possession. The motive behind the crime is yet to be determined, and the police are searching for other individuals involved in the incident.
Criminal History
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Yogendra has a history of criminal activity, with approximately six cases registered against him in the district.
