In a recent development, a group of villagers from Ranhera who owned the land necessary for the completion of the boundary wall of Noida International Airport in Jewar had an opportunity to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The meeting occurred during the chief minister's visit to the MotoGP event held in Greater Noida.
Yogi Adityanath's Interaction with Farmers

The farmers' interaction with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took place after he attended the main MotoGP event on Sunday. This crucial meeting paved way for clearing obstacles that hindered completion of the boundary wall for the greenfield project at Jewar airport, according to officials.
The subject land, known as 'shor ki zameen,' is public utility land owned by farmers from Ranhera village. They have been seeking compensation for this property which has been under litigation for three years. Due to these unresolved legal issues, a 407-meter stretch of boundary wall remained incomplete.
Change in Land Use Policy and Farmer Compensation
In a significant move last month, however, changes were made by Uttar Pradesh government regarding land use policy pertaining to 'shor ki zameen.' This change meant that these farmers are now eligible for compensation due to acquisition of their property. An official associated with this matter confirmed this development.
Dhirendra Singh- BJP leader and MLA from Jewar played an instrumental role in facilitating this important meeting between Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and affected farmers. Post-meeting, he shared that it was arranged mainly so that they could express their gratitude towards him.
Singh quoted "Our generations will remain thankful to you (Chief Minister) for changing the land use of our shor ki zameen and making us eligible for compensation as farmers." This statement clearly echoes the relief and gratitude felt by these villagers who had been entangled in this legal issue over their land for years.
Conclusion
This development is a significant milestone in the ongoing construction of Noida International Airport. The resolution of the long-standing litigation involving 'shor ki zameen' not only paves way for completing the boundary wall but also sets a precedent in addressing similar land acquisition issues. It reflects how effective dialogue and intervention from political leadership can lead to amicable solutions that respect rights and interests of local communities while ensuring progress on infrastructure projects. With this hurdle crossed, it will be interesting to see how swiftly the remaining work at Jewar airport progresses.
