Noida Gets Cleaner: New Waste Processing Plants Set To Handle 80 Tonnes Of Waste Daily; Details Inside
The Noida Authority has launched a new initiative to manage garbage disposal scientifically. As part of this scheme, two new waste processing plants will be established in Noida, specifically in Sector 119 and Sector 50. Each plant will have a capacity to handle 40 tonnes of waste daily.
Out of the 40 tonnes processed, 15 tonnes will be handled through a material recovery facility, while the remaining 25 tonnes will be treated using bio-methanation. Additionally, plans are underway to set up a waste-to-energy plant for wet waste disposal. The location for this facility is currently being identified.
At present, all of Noida's garbage is being dumped in Sector 145, where approximately two lakh metric tonnes of waste has accumulated. Efforts to address this issue have already begun. The new waste processing plant, which will cover an area of 5,000 square metres, aims to manage waste more effectively.
The selected company will not only oversee the scientific disposal of waste for 15 years but will also manage door-to-door garbage collection. Specific areas participating in this initiative will be outlined, and the company's contract may be extended by another three years if their performance is satisfactory.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 10 crore. Preparations are also in progress for another waste processing plant.
Applications Invited
Companies interested in setting up these plants have been invited to submit applications by February 11. The bids will open on February 12, and the project will be awarded to the company offering the lowest cost. Construction of the plants is expected to commence in the coming months, marking a significant step forward in improving Noida's waste management system.
