No 'Protest' Allowed Near New Parliament Building On May 28: Delhi Police
In response to Khap Panchayat's call for a Mahila Panchayat in support of protesting wrestlers against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on May 28, the day of the new Parliament building's inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi Police have announced the closure of all borders to prevent any protests or gatherings.
Delhi Police said that permission has not yet been granted for the panchayat. Consequently, protestors will not be allowed to hold the Khap Panchayat as the Prime Minister will be inaugurating the new Parliament on the same day, according to reports.

Delhi Police has initiated special preparations to ensure a disturbance-free inauguration of the new Parliament building. On May 28, all roads leading to the Parliament from Jantar Mantar will be closed, with an increased deployment of police forces and para-military personnel. Notably, the number of women police personnel deployed will be higher than before.
According to Delhi Police sources, more than 20 police companies, including over 10 women companies, will be stationed in New Delhi. Additionally, metro stations near the Parliament will remain closed on May 28, as two metro stations have been directed to shut down in accordance with a letter sent to Delhi Metro.
Senior officials from Delhi Police have informed news agency ANI that farmers from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana may attempt to enter the national capital during this period. It is estimated that around 90 khaps comprising approximately 3,000 individuals could enter Delhi.
Following a high-level meeting, it has been decided that all borders of Delhi, including Singhu border, Dilshad Garden border, Badarpur border, and Tikri border, will be barricaded. In addition to police forces, paramilitary personnel will be deployed at these borders, with six additional companies sought for the North East Delhi region, including two women companies.
An official from the North East Delhi district stated that no gatherings will be permitted, and organized entry from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi will be prohibited. Local leaders will also be barred from entering.
While there are discussions about organizing the Khap Panchayat at an alternative location, it will not be permitted near the new Parliament building, as per Delhi Police sources.
