No Permission To Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Yet, Here's Why

Congress' Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, the second phase of marching and campaigning to connect with people on the ground that helped reshape the grand old party and MP Rahul Gandhi's image nationwide, might get postponed as authorities have not given a green flag. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will commence from Manipur to reach Maharashtra via Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. As per the schedule shared by Congress, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will begin on January 14, 2024, which is now likely to be postponed.

According to the media reports, the authorities have not given permission to Congress and its prominent leaders yet to start their yatra from Manipur in the wake of fresh violence being reported in the border town of Moreh, where the situation is marked as critical. Reports suggest that a gun battle took place between the state police and militants along the Indo-Myanmar border.

Taking cognizance of the tensed situation in the state, Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh said a "Mass combing operation" is underway by Assam Rifles, BSF, and state police to apprehend armed militants who attacked the security forces and have created a nuisance.

On the Rahul Gandhi-led 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra', the Chief Minister said, "Giving permission to Rahul Gandhi's rally is under active consideration. We are taking reports from various security agencies. After receiving reports from them, we will take a concrete decision," he said, responding to a question from reporters regarding it."

Congress' Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will be led by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Party National President Mallikarjun Kharge, and many state leaders to woo the voters for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections slated in months from now. Congress had announced to begin its Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur's Hatta Kangjeibung in the Imphal East district.
