No major differences between allies BJP and Shiv Sena: Shiv Sena MP

Panaji, May 27: Union Heavy Industries Minister and Shiv Sena MP Anant Geete said there are no major differences between BJP and his party, but the difference in opinion is bound to be there amongst the alliance partners.

"I don't feel that there are any major differences between BJP and its ally Shiv Sena. See, when there is alliance, it is obvious to have difference of opinion, but at the end the alliance exists in the interest of the state and country," Geete told reporters in Goa.

"BJP and Shiv Sena are two different parties, having different ideology, thinking and way of working," he said.

"Both the parties have the right to fight elections on their own and form a government. Both can form the government on their own. Every coalition partner has the right to have its own full-fledged government," he said.

Geete claimed that Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in Maharashtra is the oldest one in the country. "Unfortunately, in last (Maharashtra Legislative Assembly) elections, both the parties fought individually," he said. The minister said after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, BJP kept its promise and gave Shiv Sena posts in the Union Cabinet despite getting clear majority.

"Despite having clear majority with 283 MPs, the Modi government as a commitment to it's alliance partners gave them equal participation in the government, including to Shiv Sena," he said. "Across the country, the workers and voters have one view that BJP and Shiv Sena should fight as allies in all the states," he said.
