Nitish Kumars Exit from INDIA Alliance: Shashi Tharoors Take
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expresses his views on Nitish Kumars decision to leave the INDIA bloc and its potential consequences for Bihars political dynamics.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expressed his views on the recent political developments in Bihar, stating that the Janata Dal (United)'s (JDU) exit from the INDIA bloc is indeed a setback for the alliance in the state. However, he believes that this setback will only strengthen the determination of the people to fight for the right cause.

Nitish Kumar Takes Oath as Bihar CM for Ninth Time
Tharoor's comments came after JDU president Nitish Kumar took oath as the chief minister of Bihar for a record ninth time on Sunday. Kumar had earlier resigned as the chief minister, citing issues within the Mahagathbandhan and the opposition bloc INDIA. He subsequently staked a claim to form a new government with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which he had previously left less than 18 months ago.
Setback in Bihar, but Determination Redoubled
Tharoor acknowledged that Nitish Kumar's exit from the INDIA alliance is certainly a setback in Bihar. However, he emphasized that politics involves both ups and downs, and this setback may actually serve to strengthen the resolve of people in Bihar and elsewhere to fight for the right things in the right way.
Individuals Must Clarify Political Stances
Tharoor expressed concern about certain individuals who seem unclear about their political positions and goals for the country. He believes that it is essential for politicians to make their stances clear in order to effectively contribute to the nation's progress.
State-by-State Negotiations
Regarding the decisions of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab to go alone, Tharoor explained that negotiations for alliances are conducted on a state-by-state basis. He emphasized that there is no one-size-fits-all formula for all states, as political realities vary from region to region.
Examples of Varying Alliances
Tharoor provided examples to illustrate the diversity of political alliances across states. He pointed out that the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) cannot be expected to form an alliance and share seats in Kerala, while in neighboring Tamil Nadu, the Congress, CPI, CPIM, and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) are allies. This demonstrates that alliances can vary significantly from state to state.
State-Specific Outcomes
Tharoor concluded by stating that if ongoing discussions do not yield positive outcomes in one state, it does not necessarily jeopardize the INDIA bloc in other states. He stressed that each state's political dynamics are unique and must be considered individually.
