Gadkari claims no rift in the party
New Delhi, Oct 21: Amid reports of differences in Delhi BJP over chief ministerial candidate, party in-charge of Delhi polls Nitin Gadkari on Sunday accused media of showing "false news" and said there is no rift among leaders.

During a function here, the former party chief said, "Vijay Goel left the election committee meeting to come here, but media said he left the meeting in anger. Now, I and Harsh Vardhan ji have came here from the meeting, would you say that we are also angry. Don't show false news."

"Forget about us but think about your own credibility," said Gadkari, addressing a congregation of BJP workers organised by Delhi BJP's Purvanchal Morcha. Gadkari was reacting on media reports that Goel reportedly walked out of the party's Chief Election Committee meeting held here over not being projected as chief ministerial candidate for Delhi polls.

"Like Congress who has lost credibility, your channels will also lose its credibility and people will not see your channels," said Gadkari.

"BJP is not facing the question that who will become the prime minister or the chief minister, or who will become the MP or MLA," he said. "We are facing the question how we will our country make progress, how poor will get a better life," said Gadkari.

Wooing Poorvanchalis, Gadkari said that if BJP will come to power, a holiday will be declared in Delhi for Chhat Puja.

Gadkari promised that the party will build five lakh flats in slum areas of the city and power tariff will be reduced. "Poor are living in slums, unable to make their ends meet. Why this situation has arisen? This situation has been brought by Congress. As long as Congress will remain in power there will be no respite from corruption and inflation," he said.

"Till Congress is not removed, your life could not become better," Gadkari said. Taking a dig at Congress, he said "From Nehru to Sonia Gandhi everyone has given the same slogan Garibi Hatao. Now Rahul Gandhi is also saying the same thing. But if anyone has become rich, then it is Congress's son-in-law and party leaders."

Besides Gadkari, the function was attended by Delhi unit BJP chief Vijay Goel, Harsh Vardhan, who is being projected as the chief ministerial candidate for Assembly polls, and Bhojpuri singer Manoj Tiwari, who has recently joined the party.

Speaking on the occasion, Goel said BJP will build houses in slum areas and would ensure that unauthorised colonies get their due. "Fifty lakh people live in these colonies. We will change the name of these colonies from unauthorised colonies to self made colonies, as residents have made themselves when government failed to provide them housing," Goel said.

Goel reiterated his promise to decrease the price of electricity by 30 per cent.
