Nirmala Sitharaman Shares An Old Video Amid Stalin's Comment Over Sanatana Dharma

Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman shared an old video of Tamil Nadu Congress chief KS Alagiri talking about destruction of the Sanatana Dharma. This comes after Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin passed remarks on eradication of Sanatana Dharma.

Union Minister Sitharaman shared an old post of Tamil Nadu Congress chief KS Alagiri on platform X, formerly Twitter that shows the latter saying the purpose of the alliance in the state is to destroy Sanatana Dharma and the BJP.

She further pointed out that Tamil Nadu minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments PK Sekar Babu did not protest Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks on eradicating Sanatana Dharma.

Union Minister Amit Shah took a dig at the INDIA bloc by saying, "These people have talked about Sanatana Dharma for vote bank appeasement. They have insulted (Sanatan Dharma)." He further said that the Congress is anti-supporter of Hindutva.

Meanwhile, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief Thol. Thirumavalavan said Udhyanidhi defended Stalin by saying that the latter tried to revive Dr. BR Ambedkar's ideology of equality. He further said that the DMK leader was not against Hindus but against 'Hindutva'.

"Dr BR Ambedkar says 'Sanatana Dharma' or Hindu Dharma, is a contagious disease. It should be eradicated and annihilated in future. Then only we can attain equality among the people. So Minister Udhayanidhi spoke about the ideology of Periyar, the ideology of Ambedkar, ideology of equality. So this is not against the Hindu community," Thirumavalavan told the news agency ANI.

Earlier on Saturday, Stalin said that the 'Sanatana Dharma' should be eliminated as it is against social justice and equality. He also compared 'Sanatana Dharma' with diseases like dengue, malaria, coronavirus and said such things should be abolished.

While addressing an event organised by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Artists Association, Stalin was quoted as saying, "A few things cannot be opposed, that should be abolished only. We can't oppose dengue, mosquitoes, malaria, or corona. We have to eradicate this, that's how we have to eradicate Sanatana. Rather opposing Sanatana it should be eradicated. The name Sanatana is from Sanskrit. It is against Social Justice and equality."
