Nikhil Sawani to quit BJP, says 'upset' with money being offered to Patidar leaders

Patidar leader Nikhil Sawani, who had earlier joined the BJP, on Monday said that he would quit the saffron party as he was "upset" with Narendra Patel being alledgely offered money to join the BJP.

In a a major twist in the tale, Narendra Patel, a local convenor of the Hardik Patel's Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti, has alleged that he was offered Rs 1 crore to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.

"I heard about Rs one crore offer by BJP to Narendra Patel, I'm upset. I am leaving BJP today," Sawani told the media.

Sawani also heaped praise on Narendra Patel for exposing the issue of money being offered.

"I congratulate Narendra Patel. He comes from a small family but still he didn't choose Rs 1 crore: Nikhil Sawani says he resigns from BJP," he added.

"I wasn't offered money to join BJP. Now I resigned because they are just offering lollipop, fulfilling nothing," Sawani further said.

Narendra Patel's claim is sensational as it came just a few hours after he had joined the BJP in the presence of prominent leaders. Patel however changed his tune at a late night presser in Ahmedabad. He said that was made to say that he was joining the BJP after he was offered Rs 1 crore. He said that he was given a Rs 10 lakh advance on Sunday itself and the remaining Rs 90 lakh would be paid to him on Monday, he was assured.

Patidar leaders Reshma Patel and Varun Patel on Saturday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in presence of party chief Amit Shah.
